Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare and review financial reports for internal management, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist with the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets for the company and specific projects.
Accounting and General Ledger Management:
- Support the CFO in overseeing the general accounting operations, ensuring proper recording of all transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions related to ongoing solar projects, including billing, work in progress, and project cost allocations.
Project Accounting and Cost Management:
- Oversee job cost tracking, ensuring the accurate allocation of costs to projects.
- Monitor and analyze project profitability, including direct costs, overhead allocation, and progress biling.
- Work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure financial data related to solar projects is accurate and up to date.
- Assist in tracking and reporting on project cash flows, ensuring proper accounting of progress payments, retainage, and final project settlements.
Process and Internal Controls:
- Maintain and enhance the internal control environment, and assist in the development of financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy across accounting and finance
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, procurement) to ensure compliance and accurate and timely financial data
- Assist in managing and improving the company’s financial ERP system
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline finance and accounting workflows
Inventory Management:
- Track and manage inventory levels.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Implement strategies to optimize inventory management and minimize costs.
Team Collaboration and Support:
- Provide support and training to junior accounting and finance staff.
- Act as a liaison between accounting and operations departments
- Collaborate with other colleagues on various ad-hoc projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting roles.
- Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or related role.
- Renewable energy experience in Hawaii preferred.
- Experience in construction accounting with job costing knowledge.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite and other project CRMs.
- Experience with QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Experience with inventory management or ERP software preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
