Procurement Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services necessary for our operations, ensuring cost-efficiency and timely delivery. This position provides the opportunity to gain experience in working with project teams on project delivery and execution and opens the door to gain experience for future opportunities in other areas of business such as project management, development, accounting, or engineering & design.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Purchasing:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value.
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal departments to forecast needs.
  • Manage inventory records and ensure accuracy of stock levels.
  • Implement strategies to optimize inventory management and minimize costs.

Supplier Relationships:

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and reliable delivery.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and address any issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain a preferred supplier list.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier performance.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to management.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and analyze procurement costs to identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and track their impact on the budget.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align procurement activities with financial goals.

Procuring Services and Subcontractors:

  • Identify and evaluate potential service providers and subcontractors.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with service providers and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with project managers (commercial) and project coordinators (residential) to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.

Scheduling and Planning:

  • Develop and maintain procurement schedules to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  • Coordinate with project managers to align procurement activities with project timelines.
  • Plan and forecast future procurement needs based on company growth and project pipeline.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist or in a similar procurement role or related Project Management Role.
  • Renewable energy experience in Hawaii preferred.
  • Experience with electrical components, reading construction & electrical drawings and reviewing bills of materials (BOM).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite and other project based CRM software.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management or ERP software preferred.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
