Sunspear Energy — a Hawaii-based full-service renewable energy solutions company — recently announced it has expanded to Hawaii Island, where it will offer both commercial and residential solar installations.

“Electricity is more expensive on Hawaii Island than on Oahu so it makes sense to save with renewable energy and go solar for residential and commercial owners alike,” Glen Smith, senior energy consultant at Sunspear on Hawaii Island, said in a statement.

The company recently finished installing a 300 kW rooftop solar system for the Big Island Grown warehouse near Hilo on Hawaii Island, and while working on the commercial project, the team saw a lot of residential demand for solar. Sunspear has since expanded its operations and created an office of Hilo-based professionals that will serve Hilo, Puna, Hamakua, Kona, Kamuela, Kohala and Kau, a spokesperson for Sunspear told PBN in an email.
“Sunspear Energy provides homeowners with the option to purchase a 30-year warranty on their solar electric system, providing peace of mind for folks who prefer to own their equipment,” Smith said. “Sunspear offers the option to lease a system if tax credits are a concern. There are also multiple loan options to ease the upfront costs and provide immediate bill savings for homeowners.” Sunspear Energy was recently ranked No. 2 on PBN’s ranking of Hawaii’s Fastest Growing Companies for 2023, with a growth rate of 566.95%. The Oahu-based solar business was founded in 2017, as previously reported by PBN.
The company’s Hawaii Island office can be reached at 808-201-5236, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
