Junior Accountant

Sunspear is looking for a Junior Accountant to support the business as it continues to grow. As a Junior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting daily finance activities across AP, AR, monthly reporting, and payroll. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Status: Full-Time

Compensation: $50K+ (varies by qualifications and experience)

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Maintenance:

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Review invoices, reconcile deposit and vendor statements, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations:

  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address inquiries and resolve financial discrepancies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in accounting roles.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge in QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while being self-motivated to learn new concepts.
